We are seeking a Sales Engineer who Will Jump at the Chance for Extensive Training In Munich, Germany and Boston, MA on How to Sell Innovative German-Engineered Industrial Adhesives in the Chicago/Midwest Area


Our client is a German mid-sized family owned inventor and manufacturer of industrial adhesives and a specialist in the field of high-tech processes for adhesives in technical applications. The products are used in growing markets, such as electronics and micro-electronics, RFID, automotive, photovoltaics and medical engineering.  The company has been in business for over 50 years and operates sales and marketing branches in the USA (Boston area), Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, China and South Korea.




The Position and Responsibilities


In order to support the US subsidiary in Boston, MA, we are assigned to search and select a motivated, energetic Sales Engineer to be based in a home office in the greater Chicago, IL area.  After an extensive training in Munich and Boston, your tasks will include the following key areas:

  • Identify various entry points to the markets in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, North and South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas.
  • Based on the company’s mission, strength and vision set up a measurement framework.
  • Implement new creative sales ideas and improve on existing sales strategies to convince potential top players in the industry of the superiority of our client’s products.
  • Design and develop technical solutions with existing and new customers in multiple high-tech industries in partnership with customers and the internal technical team
  • Provide start-up project development and ongoing customer support
  • Internal and external project management and control
  • Develop and submit verbal and written reports detailing new opportunities, sales calls, competitor activity, potential customers, and customer needs
  • Successfully complete new projects with existing customers and close new business with new customers
  • Collaborate with executive team on customer applications
  • Hold in-depth technical presentations and discussions with customers
  • Attend trade shows, conferences and seminars



The Qualifications and Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering, i.e. Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Material Science, Physical Engineering or similar technical areas; Master’s degree a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in both sales and a technical corporate environment
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with accounts in complex technical environments
  • Well versed in consultative selling techniques
  • Hands-on experience in selling to a variety of industries, preferred
  • Knowledge of quality systems and processes is a definite asset
  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills
  • Results driven, passion to succeed, resourceful
  • Ability to work out of a home office
  • Self-motivated, energetic, enthusiastic, high frustration tolerance, passion to succeed
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office, Power Point, Excel, Word


The Terms

Our client is offering extensive training in Munich and Boston to provide specific knowledge about adhesives and joining technologies along with the support of a wide array of specialists at the German HQ.
