Based in the Barcelona Area

Our client is a German mid-sized high-tech company and one of the global leading suppliers of coating thickness and material testing instrumentation.  With more than 60 years of experience and competence, the company offers solutions to a large assortment of industries including electronics, automotive, paint and lacquer, electroplating, coating technology, etc. 



The Position and Responsibilities

Due to the growth initiative and in line with the global business development strategy, we are assigned to search and select the Sales Director Spain, based in the Barcelona area.  In this capacity you will be in charge of the development of local business strategies and solutions for complex and multi-faceted customer applications.  In your sales role you will identify, qualify and capture technical sales opportunities in diverse markets, such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, solar panels, etc.  You will report directly to the Regional Sales Director EMEA at the German HQ.



Key Responsibilities

  • Develop ongoing market penetration strategy

  • Anticipate market conditions, changes, trends, and develop an appropriate sustainable product portfolio to match customers´ needs

  • Develop and implement a product roadmap focusing on product strategy driven by customer requirements

  • Maintain intensive contacts with key accounts and business partners to identify long-term trends in demand and supply behavior

  • Interface directly with customers and get actively involved in relationship management and negotiation agreements

  • Acquisition of new customers in close cooperation with the field sales team and distributor partners

  • Work closely with R&D at HQ on new product development and product launches

  • Strategize with HQ to assess potential risks and solutions, and plan alternatives

  • Represent the client at customer public events and meetings

  • Traveling up to 60% nationally and internationally to the HQ in Germany

  • Create, maintain and track budget

  • Lead, train and motivate a team of about 8 sales- and service associates


The Qualifications and Requirements


You will meet the high expectations of our client if you have successfully completed (preferably technical) university studies, e.g. in industrial engineering or a combination of business and technology. You have about 8+ years of sales experience in measurement instrumentation and at least 5 years in a comparable leadership role within a corporate manufacturing environment supplying high-tech equipment.  You have a proven track record in maximizing growth and profitability as well as experience in budgeting, customer relationship management, team motivation, conflict resolution, problem solving plus planning and organizing. 


You are a strong motivator, with analytical, conceptual and strategic strengths, who gets things done. You have a proven track record in consistently achieving superior goals in business development and sales. You are capable of winning over customers with your creative ideas and innovative solutions. You are an entrepreneur at heart, performance and results oriented, plus driven to lead the distribution channels to success. Of course you are proficient in English and Spanish.
